I remember as a kid sitting in the window at our house and watching the mountain every year, waiting to see it be turned on.

November 24 at 8:18 AM  Alaska  Fairbanks Daily News Miner  List of possible Fairbanks air pollution control measures to be discussed  FAIRBANKS—A borough-funded group of professionals discussing ways to reduce smoke pollution meets for the last time Thursday at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.  Some of the potential pollution control measures in play include wood stove inspections, registering all home heating devices, mandating a shift from No. 2 fuel oil to No. 1 fuel oil, mandatory removal of outdoor hydronic heaters, boosting enforcement of burn bans and increasing penalties for burning wet wood.

November 24 at 3:08 PM  Alaska  Fairbanks Daily News Miner  Fairbanks creates mechanism to remove homeless camps  FAIRBANKS — The city of Fairbanks now has an official mechanism to deal with illegal campsites populated by homeless people.  An ordinance unanimously approved by the Fairbanks City Council at its Monday meeting created a new section in the Fairbanks General Code establishing procedures for officials to remove illegal campsites on public land.
