About time they make the people who are stupid enough to build where their land will erode, pay to fix it.  Surprised to see Juneau actually do the right thing. Taxpayers money shouldn’t be used to fix what Earths Climate has been doing for 4.5 Billion Years and the choice of where humans have chosen to build.  Politadick

June 5 at 8:25am  Alaska  KTUU 2  Hoping to quell growing discontent, ASD agrees to open bargaining discussions with Anchorage Education Association  The Anchorage School District is set to include the public in ongoing teacher bargaining discussions.  AEA officials say they submitted new contract demands in late April, and ASD responded just last week with bargaining dates. "We want a contract before ours expires, and definitely before we come back in the fall," Gruening Middle School teacher Meghan Card said.

Pay should be performance based and based by Alaska’s schools performance.  Almost all the teachers should be taking pay cuts due to Alaska being near dead last for the education our children are receiving here.

I’ve said this a million times now.....

Healthcare in Alaska is bankrupting our state. Before Governor “He Who Shall Not Be Named” was elected Alaska had $17 Billion dollars in savings (Rainy Day Fund). $3 Billion was paid from that to cover the shortfall in Alaska’s pension programs and the rest has been eaten up by the costs of all Healthcare/Medicaid expansion. From government Employees to those getting it for free due to income.

Over 1/3 of Alaska’s budget covers healthcare and that number is expected to hit near 1/2 of the states budget by 2020 and by 2026 will be half of our states budget. This is the number one reason they have raided the ERA (PFD) because they know we cannot tax enough to cover the growing costs.

Read what Wall Street Journal had to say and the numbers they have provided and you will see the #1 reason Alaska can’t reduce its budget. The one topic that you will not hear when the budget talks begin each year and why Alaskan Lawmakers refuse to openly discuss what has caused Alaska the last three years to have the Highest Budgets in Alaska’s History!  Politadick
