California mudslides happened as cellphone alerts went out
Many Californians in the area hit hardest by this week's deadly
mudslides did not heed warnings for hours and days by emergency
officials encouraging them to evacuate
their homes - and then received cellphone alerts of imminent slides when
the massive streams of debris were already heading toward them or had
already hit their neighborhoods.
Sad that a homeless camp started that fire, that allowed this to happen
next.

UPDATE: The Sam's Club at Tikahtnu Commons has been using a "one out,
one in" policy to admit shoppers to its 25-percent-off closing sale;
Fairbanks police say traffic at the store there has caused a "handful"
of crashes.
(Update: 1/13/2018 After talking to a friend there. Only a very small
select group of people knew this was going to happen. Almost all of the
employees there were blindsided by the news).

Here is what I have found out about what Sams Club is Doing for those
working there.
“Employees are
set to receive a $1000 bonus recently announced by Walmart, as well
as 60 days of pay and a possible severance Package.”
They are also
offering jobs at Walmart to them, unclear if they will keep the same
pay or time spent within the company would transfer with the move at
this time. Read comments below for addition details about what they
have offered them.

Wow! At our district convention last Saturday our Senator Dunleavy
announced that he was resigning his Senate seat
to run full time for Governor!
That means that our District 9 Committee, along with the District 10
Committee, is going to fill his empty seat. This will happen on
Monday, January 15th at 6pm at the Menard Sports Center in Wasilla.
If you plan to attend, please know that at the start of the meeting
we will choose a procedure for picking a list of names to send to
the Governor. Then we will go into special session (privately) to
interview candidates. Then we will come out of special session and
vote in public for our list of names to send to the Governor.
If you, or someone you know, would like to put your (or his or her)
name in the pool to be considered for that interim Senate seat, the

My team and I have been pleased to recently host three of the CEOs of
North Slope producer companies who have traveled to Juneau to discuss
benefits of and gas supply to the Alaska Gasline
Development Corporation LNG

Fairbanks residents have had good and not-so-good things to say about
this big project.
Well a little good news and bad at the same time.
Glad to hear that we will not half to pay a penny for the improvements
on the road.
But if you have ever lived here in the winter. You know that the roads
are nothing but ice with 0 traction.
At least with
stop lights you knew you had to prepare to come to a full stop. Sure
do hope they start using deicer and sand on those roundabouts and
not just rocks.

The girlfriend of the Las Vegas shooter told authorities that they would
likely find her fingerprints on some of Stephen Paddock’s bullets
because she sometimes assisted him in loading ammunition into magazines,
court documents unsealed on Friday revealed.
This is not good, not good at all...
At least some more details are coming out of this. I wonder if they ever
got their timeline of events figured out? I also thought she didn’t know
he had all of these guns?
