and angry, Chugiak-Eagle River residents say it’s time to get tough on
crime.
This is Alaska Star's article on the recent public safety and
Situational Awareness meeting I hosted Saturday evening. I was honored
to partner with local hero Cliff
Cook of Eagle River Community Patrol, children's hero Becky Hesser of
RADKids and Alaska Tactical-educating adults on not becoming victims of
crime. Alaska Tactical did two presentations, one on Armed Angelines--encouraging
women to get self defense training and one on Situational Awareness--how
important it is to be aware of your surroundings to help reduce chances
of becoming a victim. The article captured more of the sentiment of
angry citizens--"we are fed up with what is going on and aren't going to
take it anymore attitude," However, the main purpose of the presentation
was to empower people to education your children, yourself and help
chase crime out of Eagle River. We very much appreciate the Alaska Star
and KTUU for staying many hours during the Town Hall & Public Safety
meeting to inform their listeners/readers of this important public
meeting.
