August 29 at 12:09 PM  Alaska  KTVA 11  Small step for Yup’ik immersion kindergartners; Giant step for Anchorage School District  Sherry Colley’s grandson posed for a picture with a great big grin, as he held a sign rimmed in gold glitter in front of College Gate elementary.  College Gate Elementary in East Anchorage opened its doors Monday to about 30 kindergarten students who will be taught in Yup’ik.

Alaska’s already struggling school system that has nearly the worst performance for educating our children, now is introducing a language that is used by less then 1% of the world.

Funding for this is available for the next three years, provided by the federal government and after that Alaskans will have to figure out how to pay for the program with their already struggling to make budget school system.

They already have funding issues for the Spanish Immersion programs trying to teach them English and is always struggling to get funding to have it continue.

Wouldn’t be surprised to hear they will soon start having classes that will fund learning Pig Latin in our schools.  Politadick

Puerto Rico’s corrupt government and infrastructure that matched third world countries before the hurricane had hit, had nothing to do with this?

Supplies sent to help in the recovery were left in containers by their government to rot.

Money sent to be used to rebuild, found to have gone directly into the governments politicians and employees bank accounts.

Electrical grid rebuilding materials hidden in storage lockers and refused to be distributed to the companies trying to rebuild it, by the same government employees.

Even the story written here contradicts itself with claims of nearly 3000 died because of the aftermath of the hurricane. Yet as you read the story it comes out near the end they will not be surprised to hear the number of people killed will be lowered to near 2000.
