OPINION: Give us time to run the numbers on the giant tax cut disguised
as health care bill The U.S. Senate is planning no hearings
and no review by experts on their health care bill. When it comes to healthcare nobody seems to care how much it costs for Alaska taxpayers. When Alaska has expanded Medicare, benefiting only those with lower earnings or non at all. While the middle class is crushed under high monthly insurance payment and biggest deductibles in all 50 states. Why is that? Could it be that with the expansion has raised the Alaska's budget a billion dollars just last year. That even the 2018 budget has increased again to try and cover the costs. Last years state budget was 17.1 billion dollars and 7.1 billion was spent from last years budget for healthcare. In 2008 only 4.2 billion was spent! This year, more then 1/3 of what was spent in the budget was for healthcare. Yet us Alaskans only paid 4.1 billion in taxes... Everyone is upset over PFD's, cost of oil per barrel and our local reps want you to think education, cost of state run services (ferry, DMV, fish and game, etc) is the cause of the problems we are in. But refuse to acknowledge their overspending while oil prices were high and refuse to cut spending for the lower prices are at now. When Alaskans can tell us how healthcare is to be paid for without changes that will be unpopular. Then you can have the right to complain. 300,000 Alaskans are at poverty levels for healthcare. Let that sink in for a moment. Politadick |

Legislators pass budget deal to fully fund K-12, pay $1,100 PFD and
avert a government shutdown The deal also includes $57 million
for this year's payment on oil and gas tax credits. Legislators say it
should be approved by both chambers tonight.
A government shutdown is averted, but there’s more work to do to salvage the state’s finances. Gov. Walker has already added another bill to the second special session agenda. The ones that are looking out for Alaska's people and not governments pocket books are being systematically removed… That should have every Alaskan in fear over our futures Governor Walker and the House is playing the shell game with Alaskans and now looks like many in the Senate are joining them Don't fall for their trap! Now they are going to take half the PFD again and say its for education. They are doing this to push their taxes through! House voted to take all Savings, PFD Reserves, gave government a huge raise that drained savings to nothing with their budget they passed. Can Alaskans be that stupid to think what they did by saying they are giving us a full PFD is a good deal? Second Biggest budget in Alaska's history. No savings left, still wanting all their new taxes and by doing what they did. They would guarantee those taxes in the next budget. All focus is on the PFD and not on the futures of all ALASKANS! They did it so they will be reelected next year! Don't fall for the trap! Cut the budget, cut government size, stay out of the PFD, NO NEW TAXES Politadick |
The budget is passed, now state departments wait for the impacts
Friday morning commissioners and their public information officers were
still pouring over the budget passed late Thursday night to see how
their…With
a budget passed these are the biggest takeaways. So they failed to do any cuts to the budget that will have any impact on what they are spending and increased the budget from last year to do it. Clear government failure Politadick |
