In this installment of "Inside Judicial Watch," host Jerry Dunleavy joins Robert Popper to discuss Judicial Watch's latest court battles for clean and fair elections while combating voter fraud across America.
Robert is the Director of JW's Election Integrity Project and has garnered numerous professional awards, including the Justice Department’s prestigious Special Commendation Award for Outstanding Service.
Prior to joining the DOJ, he worked as a private attorney in New York City for 17 years. He served as trial counsel in federal and state trials, appeals, and arbitrations. His practice extended to a wide range of legal matters – including voting rights. Mr. Popper served as both trial and appellate counsel in a successful constitutional challenge alleging racial segregation in the design of New York’s congressional districts. As counsel for the plaintiffs, Mr. Popper obtained a favorable ruling from a three-judge federal panel in the Eastern District of New York, which was summarily affirmed by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Mr. Popper is a published author on the topic of voting rights law. He developed a legal standard relating to gerrymandering that is widely cited by experts and was adopted by the Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission. He has spoken about voting rights to a conference of U.S. Attorneys at the National Advocacy Center, to a conference of state officials, and before countless local community representatives. He has testified before the Missouri Senate Redistricting Committee on gerrymandering. He has made radio and television appearances on behalf of the Heartland Institute.
Mr. Popper is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Northwestern University Law School. He is admitted to practice in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

I’m thrilled to announce that I’m re-engaging in my campaign for Governor effective immediately.
Three months ago, I suspended my campaign due to a medical condition. Today, I am glad to report that, thanks to great physicians, nurses and care providers, the medical treatments were successful, and my recovery has been excellent. In late August, I underwent a medical procedure to address atrial fibrillation. This condition was not life threatening, but was a serious impediment to handling the rigors of the campaign trail. I also received treatment in November for some inflammation of the heart tissue (myocarditis) that had been causing serious fatigue. The outpouring of well wishes and prayers from Alaskans all across the state was truly humbling and inspiring.
It was incredibly important for me to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that my health is well enough that I can follow through on commitments I make to you. Broken campaign promises are nearly the rule and not the exception these days. Then after they are repeatedly lied to, voters are chastised for not engaging by the very same politicians that didn't keep their word. That is simply unacceptable to me.
I continue to hold up the priorities I’ve championed during my time as a Senator, and Alaska can expect that my positions and priorities will not change, neither during the campaign for Governor nor afterwards were I to assume the Office. My top priorities are: keeping Alaskans safe, balancing the budget, and protecting the PFD as envisioned by its founders.
Alaska needs a leader that listens to, respects, believes in, and protects Alaskans. There is simply no excuse for the position our state is in – a significant rise in crime (both violent crime and crime that endangers our economic stability like theft), an economy in recession, the highest unemployment rate in the country and millions being wasted in government at the expense of the people and private sector. There exist viable solutions to the challenges facing us, and with the help of all Alaskans, I will work to swiftly and immediately enact systematic change to improve safety, get expenditures in line with revenues, and protect the Alaskan PFD as its founders envisioned.
