August 5 at 12:47pm  Alaska ADN Climate Change/Global Warming/Global Cooling Retreating Exit Glacier has become an icon of climate change   The celebrity glacier on the Kenai Peninsula, though relatively small and getting smaller, looms large in the public consciousness.  The approach to Exit Glacier, the most accessible of the 500 square miles of ancient ice covering Kenai Fjords National Park, is a timeline of retreat.

What they won't tell you in this article.

I was just on the glacier tour last month.

Though the ice has been melting around the edges, it's snow pack it gets each year on top, is getting more accumulation then what it is losing. According to Kenai Fjords Glacier tours.

When the ocean currents changed around 2011, warm water was coming up from the south causing much of the rapid melting experienced from 2011 through 2016.

This current also caused Alaska's weather to hit record highs over that same time period.

In 2016 the ocean current has reversed itself back and is now bringing the cold down from the north.

2016-2017 winter in Alaska was like we use to see before 2011.

This also caused the ice packs on the ocean to the north to shrink in size.

Yet in other parts of the world the ice packs have grown in size and mass during this same time frame.

Looking at the bigger picture of factors provided. This glacier is doing what it should and is reducing in size due to the earth is still coming out of the last ice age.
